High-end interior architecture and design firm is looking for an experienced Senior Interior Designer – Team Leader to join their team as a full-time staff member. This position reports directly to the named Principal of the firm. The firm's clients range in design preferences and age, with projects nationwide and across the Bay Area, including the wine country, mountains and beaches. Many projects are ground up construction working in tandem with architects, landscape architects, contractors, A/V professionals, and so on.

The right person for this job takes initiative and contributes significantly and visibly to every aspect of the design process, from concept to installation. They must be a team player, enjoy thinking on their feet, taking responsibility for their work and investing in their careers as well as those of the people they manage. Typically, teams consist of a Senior in this role, and a project manager reporting to them initially or over time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER/TEAM LEADER:

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal day-to-day supervision, while interfacing with project team members and the firm’s principal
  • Mentor the members of your team towards design excellence
  • Contribute to all aspects of design, including decoration and ground-up construction, including custom furniture design.
  • Create CAD plans, elevations and RCPs in AutoCAD
  • Selecting and write FF&E schedules
  • Coordinate with vendors, clients, architects and consultants
  • Source selections from vendors and artisans worldwide and locally from the SF Design Center

JOB REQUIREMENTS FOR SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER/TEAM LEADER:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture or Furniture Design
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working with a high-end residential interior design or architecture firm
  • Exceptional AutoCAD skills
  • Experience working on multiple ground up construction projects, including, interfacing with architects/contractors, space planning, drafting interior architecture specifications, etc. (not just decorating)
  • Experience managing projects with specified budgets and timelines
  • Outstanding technical knowledge of design genres, history and antiques
  • High level of detail orientation with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Excellent work ethic, positive demeanor, and "do-what-it-takes" attitude
  • Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to correspond with excellent English grammar and spelling
  • A valid driver's license and access to a car to visit job sites
