Job Description and Duties

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Single Family, the Research Data Analyst I performs qualitative and quantitative research, data gathering, and basic financial, economic, and statistical analysis to support the Single-Family Division’s lending programs, reporting requirements, and policy initiatives. The incumbent applies pre-defined methods and standard procedures to collect, analyze, validate, and summarize data that helps the Director evaluate the performance of existing programs and to design and develop new initiatives.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • Experience (academic or professional) with data and/or public policy analysis and research
  • Academic or professional experience in finance, land use, housing, economic and community development, real estate, public policy, or lending
  • Knowledge of housing policy , real estate market and economic trends
  • Ability to gather and analyze information to solve problems and make recommendations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Ability to prepare materials clearly conveying the outcomes of research and analysis (e.g., memoranda, PowerPoint, graphics)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members at various levels and functions across the organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Working Conditions

Hybrid telework schedules are available. The amount of telework is at CalHFA’s discretion and is based on operational needs.  IN-PERSON ATTENDANCE WILL BE REQUIRED WEEKLY .

Our office is in 500 Capitol Mall , a high-rise building conveniently located in downtown Sacramento with access to public transportation (light rail and bus) and freeways (I-5, 99, and Business 80). It is one block from Downtown Commons (DOCO), the Golden 1 Center, and many restaurants. Employees also have free access to the gym located in the building.

Candidates who are new to state service will be placed at the minumum of the salary range.

  • BE REINSTATEMENT ELIGIBLE: 
    Have obtained previous permanent employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable.
