Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE
Holcim US, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Equipment Operator to support the operations at the New Kent, VA Quarry location.. This position will be responsible for operating and configuring multiple equipment. Also ensuring that the equipment works at its full capacity, Oversee heavy equipment maintenance, and perform preventative maintenance checks.


WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Safely operate heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, bulldozers, and haul trucks to move raw materials efficiently.
  • Load and unload materials like rock, gravel, and sand to support crushing, screening, and transport operations.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance to ensure machines are in good working condition and prevent downtime.
  • Support production goals by keeping up with scheduled material movement and minimizing delays in the workflow.
  • Follow safety procedures and quarry regulations to protect themselves and others on-site, maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Assist with site clean-up and organization, ensuring the quarry remains efficient and compliant with environmental standards.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks, report issues, and maintain workflow.


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Field of Study Preferred: N/A
Required Work Experience: 1-2 years in a Quarry or Industrial environment.
Travel Requirements: N/A

  • Heavy Equipment Experience: Proven ability to operate machinery like loaders, excavators, haul trucks, or bulldozers in a quarry or similar setting.
  • Safety-Focused Mindset: Strong understanding of quarry safety protocols, PPE use, and hazard awareness; a good safety record is essential.
  • Mechanical Knowledge: Basic understanding of equipment maintenance, ability to spot and report mechanical issues before breakdowns occur.
  • Situational Awareness: Good judgment and awareness of surroundings to safely operate in active quarry zones with other personnel and machinery.
  • Physical Stamina: Able to handle long shifts in outdoor, rugged environments, often in varying weather conditions.
  • Communication Skills: Can effectively follow instructions, use radios or hand signals, and report issues or updates to supervisors and teammates.
  • Dependability & Work Ethic: Shows up consistently, takes ownership of their role, and contributes to daily production goals.


Additional Requirements:

Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
